help with styling a ficus

It's the s shape that let's these down, here's what I would do if I really wanted to use this material.
Get the Base nice and fat as long as you can bare, maybe a 4 inch trunk. don't trim it at all. Put it in a south facing window.
Put it in akadama and a large house plant pot with drainage holes and a tray. Water and spray it every day but only once it's in pure in akadama.
Once it's at the desired thickness I would chop it below the s and seal it, could even train the lowest branch into a cascade while you do this. Look at ficus bonsai images on Google for inspiration.

I would say that for people not located in the tropics, getting a thick trunk on ficus is dificult. You would certainly need to put it outside. oh.. Acadama is not a requirement. Just use any modern bonsai substrate that is free draining.
