Brazilian Rain Trees (PITHECELLOBIUM TORTUM) are very interesting plants for bonsai.
Bad news is that they are in danger of extinction in nature. Very, very hard to find.
Good news is I got a bunch of seeds from a preservation nursery. They can't sell more than twenty seeds to any individual, so I got my share. They gave me some more as a "security plan".
But... As promised, they have already a sure destination; they are a present to a friend.
I hope they sprout in the cold weather of Europe!
To plant: Half nursery soil, half vermiculite, 1cm below top soil; soak in warm water (35 degrees Celsius) for two hours; plant and they should sprout in four to six weeks.
Replant after six months.

Well he has to decide: either he gets them by snail mail now, or he gets them in person in May, with some glasses of cold caipirinhas...

Why one, and not the other? Caiperinha's are always a good idea. But easrly growing season is too. But planning is a bit of a private matter between you and your EU friend I suppose.
