I haven't had my azalea for very long, but I decided that I wanted to use a couple of moisture sensors, just to be able to tell how wet the soil is underneath the surface. I use on that just blinks green and red, red or green, if the plant has enough water, could use water and needs water.. the other one is a flower care sensor, which tells me a percentage of moisture, fertalizer, sunlight etc... not sure how accurate these are, but as you can see from my post, I haven't had any problems with my azalea.
Of course I don't rely on those things alone, but to have an idea how much moisture is under the surface might help.
