Lilac in yard been there many years. I’m thinking dig in spring clean roots and repot and defoliate to first outward buds possibly leaving main laterals as selected for structural aesthetics cutting roots downward angle or layer grafting but trunk looks good although plant is around 15 years old and not very vigorous..then I’m Going to place inside and research fertilization and watering further, furthermore I have well water it’s worked so far so not too worried about ph. Would like a lot of criticism and I would further refine this message but wrote while guests were arriving

I will allow for the dormancy to be sufficiently satisfied. I hear that’s important.

I dicided to look around the ditch and other areas rather than choose a non native for the reason that I feel like besides continuing to care for it overwintering will be hardest I’ll probably put it or... most likely them..in garage stays about 40 F min. I’m worried about tropical care or non native care becoming a risk to create mold in home as they prefer high humidity

I did say I’ll dig is spring previously. I will probably dig it soon as I see growth then place indoors since it’s a lilac I will not prune till after it flowers in early spring at that time watering will be at its peak and fertilization I think might be wrong. After the pruning of flowers I will mainly just watch it and water... should I leave two buds on new growth I’ve heard this also heard more sun smaller leaves also heard pinching back leaves

OK, I missed that you said you would lift in spring.

Maybe a gentle nudge: Your posts are hard to understand. I am not sure whether it is the lack of punctuation or general sentence structure. But -as a non-native speaker- I am having a hard time extracting what it is you expect in a response.

You are correct LB, same here, i'm having difficulties understanding the TS

Do i understand correctly that you want to place it inside because it is a Lilac? Placing trees inside is always a bad idea, certainly for native trees!!
