When I first did that was with some apple seeds. I found this method on some sites and tried it. It started as some kind of experiment. I didn't overthink it at all. It was winter and I prefered putting a plastic bag in the fridge than struggling to dig holes outside in the frozen ground. No mess, no stress, no rodents. That's why I did that. It's the easiest thing to do

Have you thought about using seed trays to sow the seeds and then put them outside?

Yes, I did. Doing it my way seems easier because I don't have to separate the sprouts after they grow a little and I don't have to worry about rodents.

Just a little unasked advice: bonsai is never easy.

I personally never understand why people who live in a teperate clime put seeds in a fridge. Sow in late fall, early winter. Put outside.

Neither do I.

Indeed. My kids (oldest one is 7) got into planting stuff last year. They put seeds from fruit and vegetables we have eaten into pots, and most of them actually start growing. Nature is amazing ;)
