Most or all of the trees we mention on the forum are larger than Mame size. I have looked for advice on mame and can't find much. Most of the advice we give here is basically let the tree grow real big for several years, but mame would not follow that pattern. I wonder a few things, related to a project I am working on, which is several maple seedlings from a tree in the yard, intended to be given to the sons who grew up in the house.

1). Do mame progress from mame size to shohin size?

2) How long would you expect a maple to remain mame size before potting into a larger pot?

3) I water most of the trees once a day May to July and October, twice a day August and September. Mame pots don't seem to be big enough to last all day most of the time. Does it make sense to give a tree to somebody who will forget to water it three times a day? Two of the sons are in the same climate zone, so they will have the same issue.

4) What other mame considerations are there?
