For a taller tree I would look into getting as much of the mowement on the taller Y branch as visible as possible from the front.

For a smaller tree, I think it is too early to decide.

But its your tree. We have only two dimensional photos to look at.

I see two options, both of which require drastic reductions. You could opt for a bigger tree, but that would mean the trunk is relatively thin..

I was thinking something along the lines of the blue trunk line.. the crabapples I've worked with backbud pretty well, so I think a good cutback sooner or later is in the works anyway. as thick trunks are better than thin ones, as long as the taper is good..
