I have 5 Dawn Redwood saplings about 2 to 3 years old. I have never worked with deciduous conifers before. My question is, do I remove the tap root and develop the nebari like I would a deciduous tree or treat it more like a conifer?

Yes, exactly the same treatment and in the spring.

Hmm. I do the same thing to all my trees. Decidious or evergreen. Conifers or broadleafs.

What would "treat it more like a conifer" mean?

Firstly, thank you for your help. As far as my question for like a deciduous tree or a conifer tree goes, I thought that the process my be different as far as developing radial nebari. I've completed the Developing Deciduous Material course, the starting trees from seed and just started the Developing Coniferous Material course yesterday; And for some reason I thought the process was different. Probably because I've taken 7 courses over the last few months and now all that information is all jumbled up in my brain now lol.
