I have some pics to show in order to gain some advice on the next step in this azaleas progression to a stellar bonsai. I would humbly consider any recommendations.

a hard cut back once the blooms fall. they backbud well on old wood so you can go as far as cutting back to the trunk and letting it grow out till next year. pinch off any flower buds that start forming for a few seasons to let the tree focus energy on growth. it takes alot away from the plant to produce flowers

this plant has been in this homeade growbox for a year now and was wondering if I should along with the heavy pruning, repot into a training pot or leave it in the grow box the soil is comprised of almost the same type as when I pulled it from the ground.
