I attempted to grow a cutting from my Bonsai Tree earlier this year. I had a batch of 4 cuttings, now only 2 are remaining. The cutting in the picture is of my more successful one, it started off measuring 5cm from the top of the soil now it 24cm.

Auk, now you are lying. You would chuck is in the garden or give it away.
This seems like a ligustrum spp. which grow fast. I would start off by giving the stem some bends, starting very low (soil level) otherwise you will end up with a tall straight stick. Then put it in de garden, making sure the roots are spread out nice and evenly. Levae it there for a decade, working roots and trunk every 2-4 years. THat would give you a good basis to start with working for bonsai.

The question was: "what would you do with it"
I have too many seedlings in pots, no more room, and no good place for them in the garden (our dog has killed quite a few young plants already, some of them not even that young).
But yeah, I wouldn't throw it away. I would probably just leave it in the pot (or put it in a bigger one, this one is really small) and try and find a place for it to become one of my 'you never know in the future' projects.
