Hello to the community of Bonsai Empire.

I have a question regarding the Chinese Elm species.

Did some research on the site, found some answers that might fit my situation but I want to be sure.

I am planning to grow the Chinese Elm from seed, and I understand that a lot of space is required for the trunk to really grow.

Which leads me to my problem. Due to space constraints, I can only grow it in a pot, 35cm (14 inch) diameter and 30cm (1 foot) deep. Is it okay for me to prune back the branches when they grow out of the pot while it is still growing in the pot?

Is the size of the pot enough for the plant to grow and thicken it's trunk?

Thank you in advance

hello and welcome

might i ask why you would grow a tree from seed while it's a species you can buy for a penny?

your space problems, are they because you plan to grow the tree indoors?

For some reason, I can't find this species from the local nursery. Hence, me growing it from seed

I'm living in a small apartment, the corridor outside gets a lot of sun from 2pm (indirect) to 6pm (direct sunlight around 3pm to 6pm). The climate here is warm all year round or rainy.
