Wow! This site has grown a whole lot since I joined earlier this year. I've been gone for awhile, (4 AP courses, Japanese class, and Japanese club seem to have stolen all of my free time) and coming back to this is a bit overwhelming. Glad I came by just in time then. I am new to Bonsai and looking forward to reading more advanced articles in the future.

I plan on learning as my trees grow - I am dragging my friends along for the fun too.

Technically, I'm a newbie too, since I've only been doing bonsai since June, but already I've hijacked my school's Japanese club to make it more bonsai-filled. I'm sure you and your friends will find lots of helpful information on here. And if it's not here already, just post a question! We're all happy to help you troubleshoot problems, even if it's just giving you a link to a more detailed article.

Well, at our last meeting we did some initial styling on the willows. No one was really keen on clipping any branches, so it was mostly wiring. We ran way over time, though! Our school day ends at 2:40, and our meetings usually end around 4:00. We dismissed everyone at 4:30 and I stayed after to help a friend personally. (She led the origami portion- students rotated between us.)
Over all, it went really well! But we won't be having any other meetings anytime soon, since we have finals in a week and then Christmas break.
