here in c/s, co was created by snuffy

this wildfire started around 1p.m. yesterday in the mountains west of colorado springs, co. They have issued mandatory evacuations for all of manitou springs, green mountain falls, and cascade. They also have evacuated 2 subdivisions. This sucks and adds to the 100df temps that we are in now, because of all the smoke in the air. Our is stupid dry right now and this isn't helping. This is the Waldo Canyon fire.
Hope the links work.

I live on the east side of town, so it will have to burn the whole city before it gets to us. I live about 25 miles from the fire, tho. We are all hoping we don't get a big wind storm (as they call it here). If that were to happen, it would diffinately make it to town. I couldn't even see the mountains this morning because of the smoke. :(
The sad thing to me atm is the thousands of amazing trees that have burned. There were a lot of awsome natural bonsais up there. That whole area was protected, so no one could collect trees there.

Thanks for your concern.
They just said animals are going nuts all over town because of the smoke.

I think that would have been the Hayman fire. It was the largest fire in colorado's written history. The Hayman fire burned so hot it distroyed everything, it took 2 years before weeds would even grow. The only trees that survived were on the edges. There is another fire burning up by Boulder now, it is at 82,000 acres. They said on the news last night that half of the countries firefighters are in colorado working wildfires. The sad thing is most of these fires have been started by idiots. One was started by somebody shooting a propane tank.

The fire is now at 6100 acres. The wind changed and is now on the northwest edge of town. It is now burning houses to the ground. This is the worst thing that has happened in this city.
