Hi, just bought my first bonsai today. Was told its a 30 year shimpaku. I love the trunk. Its almost rolled into itself, so thought that was quite unique. Also like the dense foliage. Excited to share...

Congrats on your first bonsai , looks like a nice tree.
But... I can't see it really good but whoever wired it did a poor job: I see a lot of crossing wires?
After a second look I also see some kind of of white mold

Thanks for the feedback. I see your point about the cross wiring. I still cant see the mold but will check again in the morning.
So is the mold an issue - if so I will return it? I like the tree though so would like to keep it if possible.

It is a good tree.
Of course it should be always, always outside.
Could become beautiful in a few seasons.
As said, the wiring is horrible but the mould is easy, spray it in the shade with a mix of 95%water, some drops of vinegar and some drops of dishwashing soap.
Good luck!

Nice tree, i recommend joining a bonsai club, so you can bring your bonsai to a next level.

Cheers
