Trying to find a pot for my bonsai and I want to make sure I pick the right one. I know there are some guidelines to go by typically based on style and dimensions of the bonsai itself and I’d like to stick to that as close as possible.

Can anyone help me on this?(dimensions, shape, glazed, unglazed).

I have a windswept style juniper that’s about 10 inches tall and 15 inches wide. Trunk diameter 1.5’ish

Hello, could you please post a picture of your windswept Juniper?
It could go in a round semicascade pot, for instance, but seeing the tree is much easier.
Thanks.

I would say your plant is still several years away from a bonsai pot. You will firs need to get the main branches to set, and then develop a basic branch structure. Putting it in a bonsai pot now will slow down development too much.

Yes, I agree with leatherback. Still very young.
As for the pot, definitely a round or octagonal semi cascade will fit well.

I would use something like this and get a few ones, one for the current size, then a few that are progressively larger.

all,

I will definitely purchase a bunch of these pots and give it a couple years until my branches settle in.

On another note, thanks for making it easier for me to transition into the world of bonsai. You guys out in the forum are very knowledgeable, pleasant to talk to, and I appreciate the time you guys have invested in responding to my posts.

Cheers,
Justin
