Hellooooo.

So I found this trunk of a tree or some part of a tree and had to take it because it looked pretty cool. Not sure what kind of tree its from but it doesn't really matter. I think I will strip all the bark off and maybe do some carving. I was wondering if anyone has tried growing a bonsai on something like this, just like you would on top of a rock. Maybe placing a tree somewhere and have the roots climb down into the soil? Idunno. Havent been able to find any pics of this. Only pics of trees with Jin. Would this even work?

Thanks!

I would not go down that road, personally. The wood would rot quickly if you plant things on it.
You can however look at a technique called tanuki where you plant a your tree next to the deadlwood and you carve a channel in the wood and push the your sapling in. Over time, the sapling ets itself firmly in the channel and more or less fuses with the piece of deadwood. Roots are in a pot though

Yep, it's possible. Saw this at an exhibition earlier this year.

Thanks a lot! I had not heard of this before. I do not want any rot. I will definitely try this out in the spring/summer. And during the winter i can work on this hunk of wood.

Thanks!
