i live in norway and have a tropical tree, so it needs to be inside all year.
i would like a new tree that i can have outside (maybe even in the winter)

any idea on what tree i should buy? i will prob buy a normal plant and tranform it into bonsai.

thx

tropicals can be outside for the warmer part of the year!

In your situation, I would consider pine or larch, both completely hardy for winter.

Try trees that are native to where you live. Spruce, Scotch pine, yew and juniper should survive winter where you live. Ofcourse you should give the a little protection if it gets too cold because they grow in pots and not in the ground.

Spruce might be a bit tricky if you are just beginning.
I'd go with Junipers.

But make sure you read up on the species first.

Where in norway are you? Big difference in climate there.

Growing local species is always the best. Spruce, Birch, pines all grow far up in norway and Into russian tundra. They should all be ok in pots without winter protection in Most parts of norway.
