Hello everyone,

I have this tree in my house and I was wondering which specie it is. To me it looks like a juniper or a cypresses, what do you think?

What do you mean by "in my house"? This tree needs to be outdoors or it will die.

Hello,

As you can see in the photo it’s placed outside.

Regards

That's probably an Mediterranean Cypress (Italian Cypress), I made an experience with that species, and I wouldn't recommend you put your time on that one, I would rather go for better Juniper species.

Probably can be done, but as you can see the needles are palmed, and they even have a upside, which they direct to sunlight.

This is a thuja (Thuja Occidentalis perhaps?), often used as hedges. They are not the easiest species for bonsai. I have seen some, but I would recommend starting with another species more suitable.

Oh yes, Thujas also have those palmed needles!

Hello,

Thank you for the advice. I did a cutting of the tree a few months ago, it looked good but when I checked whether it had roots or not it didn’t!.
I found weird the the cutting survived a few months without roots.

Regards!

Yes, this happens a lot. Only once you get strong extension growth can you assume roots are growing. Staying alive tells you nothing.
