Summers here have always been pretty hot for several weeks in August. That means 95F/35C during the day and 85/30 at night. Humidity usually 80% to 90%.

In the last decade the hot spell has stretched from end of July to mid September, with highs around 105/41 for weeks in August, and the sun beating down 12 hours or more. Winters are correspondingly shorter and not as cold.

In the past I have let the trees adjust to the climate. I get mostly trees from the yard and/or woods in the back of the house, so they were climate adjusted already. Last year and year before I lost a couple in the summer, in spite of watering two or even three times a day and I expect heat and/or excessive sun was the main issue.

Is anyone changing their bonsai care to adjust to new climate patterns? Do I need to bring some of them inside for August? I rebel at the thought, but maybe I should think about it.

Thoughts?
