to see them grow, you have to put them in much bigger pots, even a few years in the ground

Should I leave them wired in the ground for a few years or just let them grow I have lots of other trees I want to work with and huge planter at the front of my house thinking I could put a few there

You cannot leave them wired for years. The wire needs to go off just when they start to bite into the wood. Planted in ground that can happen very fast, so keep an eye on them.

I understand that been growling plants for years just not bonsai I’ve already acquired 20 or so subjects I have two 20 year old acers in large pots in my back garden that have quite nice shape to them they was intended for bonsai but life got in the way lol

Growing in pot or in ground is a bslance between speed and quality.

In ground, faster but less quality to the final tree.

In pot, slower but better quality.

Just as long as you dig them up in time you can get the best from the two methods.
