Hello Bonsai Empire
This is my 1st post here, so please bear with me as I learn your ropes.

While on vacation I picked up a pre bonsai Cedar tree with excellent branch placement at New England Bonsai near Boston.

I need some general care help as far as pruning, feeding, and wintering.

Can I hard prune in Feb-Mar, or when is best if ever to do so.
There's a couple places where I'd like to prune old wood near a branch
to change direction, or cause better ramification.

WINTERING:

Purchased from a colder climate area than me (zone 6 in WV near Oh, and Ky)
I've no idea how long this tree was in their care.
Normall, I heel all my trees into the ground in Dec when the snows begin.
We reach near 0°F. normally, and on occaision lower for short periods of time.
I'm reading that cedars require freeze protection, and wind breaks for the winter. This is a major concern even though we hit 104° just yesterday.
So any helps along these lines are appreciated.

It is not the glauca genus.

hard pruning is best done late fall early winter to prevent sap loss. wintering should be much the same as your others just protect it from wind

Thank you man of the trees. I had read where they needed to be protected from freezing. Also getting conflicting reports on feeding,
being the full growing season, and another that you should skip Summer.

On another note, I cannot see my album in user galleries, nor can I view my own picture on here in my album, quirky, probably from being a newbie here?
