This spring I started some shohin and mame projects.
Now that they survived the hot summer here i like to share some pictures.
All made out of garden center material and still in training.

I cut back the potentilla's earlier that's why they look bare.

cris you have some nice starters there and that juni is awsome .pontetillas are great ive been looking for a nice big one to work with.ive been working on some narrow leaf willow seedlings their leaves reduce very nicely

thanks! I'm really looking forward to next season when they are all more developed.
Leatherback (Jelle) is king in finding and digging out older bigger Potentilla's. He finds them in gardens etc. so maybe u can ask him about his strategy. ;)

Today i cut back the smallest potentilla I have hoping it will produce new branches next year..
Also my chinese elm mame made from a cutting still does very well in the tiny pot.
It's a first timer for me so let's hope winter treats them well.

How did you manage to kill a potentilla! I get them from the ground and they start growing and flowering within weeks..

I do the digging in Summer too. I keep them moist, out of direct wind and sun for 2 weeks. Then the plants will start growing again, assuming you have left them with a bit of roots..
