Today, I have a bit of a weird question for the community.
Should I collect rainwater?
Some of you might be thinking this is crazy and I should just use my hose, and others might think I am trying to reduce my water bill. But no. I am wondering this question, because as many of us know, there is natural nitrogen in the atmosphere, that is a water 'fertilizer'. So, I will ask again,
Should I collect rainwater for my plants?
Another question I have is how should I keep my rainwater? Should I freeze it, just leave it outside, refrigerate it or something else? If I keep it in the sun, will the nitrogen be more prone to evaporation. Maybe, if no one knows, I will run an experiment of some sort.
Just to clarify for those who either don't know or didn't pay much attention to what I have said previously, there is nitrogen in rainwater coming from the atmosphere as it is made up partially of nitrogen :P . Well, that is all for me...

For the reason you refer to the answer is clearly no. Nitrogen is not nitrogen.
In the air it is mainly n2. What you need is the nitrous oxides for a plant to absorb. This is wjat the little nitrogen fixating bacteria in legumes do. Yhey oxidize nitrogen to its oxides.

Oops, usually I am good about not starting topics already created, but I didn't check this time. It is a good lesson to learn.

Oh, that's OK. It is not a direct answer to your question, but explain a (possible) reason to use rain water in stead of tap water.
