Hello everyone! So I recently got what I now know to call a mallsai from a Walmart here in New Mexico. I've been really captivated reading about the art of bonzai for the last several months though, so it seemed like this was a sign to start practicing on my little tree I've had this tree for a couple of weeks now, I've been watering it from the top when the soil starts to get dry. I move it into a sunny window in the morning and then back to partial light for the hot afternoon sun. I found a local bonsai club and I want to take it in to their meeting to have people help me figure out everything from trimming to fertilizing. My question is though; I can't make it to the meeting in August, so the next one is the beginning of September. If I keep doing what I'm doing, will my little tree make it until September? Or do I need to do something more for it in the meantime? Thanks in advance for the help, and I look forward to joining this community ^_^

Sometimes these plants have the rocks glued to the surface. Not sure if this is the case here. But if so, remove them. Also remove all the other jjunk they have dropped in the pot. They stop you from getting a clear look at the substrate the tree is growing in.
Water when the soil starts to dry. Give it light and it should be OK.
The glued in rock and fake moss isn't good I would take that off. Also leave your tree outside if you can except the winter months. Let it get modarat shad during the day. You seem fine with the watering but it's Hard to tell how wet the soil is with that stuff on top of it.

Unfortunately in the town I live in, if I left my poor little tree outside, some looney would come treenap it haha. So hopefully it's ok with open windows during the day
