Dry needles / need to save it was created by Rxnate

Hello, I am so glad I found this community!
I was at a craft show and they had these Bonsai, and I won one.

They said it’s a False Cypress is that true?
For care, they said inside, near window with moderate sunlight, and water 2-3 times a week.

Issue: the needles are extremely dry, they fall off to the touch!

Please help

Looks like a Juniper that is dead. It was killed because it was inside.

Let me repeat an almost daily statement on this forum: Junipers do not belong indoors, they will die.

I am sure that is frustrating you guys..
Understand that people come here for assistance, not the intention to annoy you..
Bonsai is an awesome thing I would love to know more about. Identifying what I had, wasn’t easy, and when I received the tree received completely wrong information ...

Have some patience ...

Orrr... People could every once in a while READ the forum, before dumping the same question on here.

Do you remember your first journey into Bonsai? Were you able to identify the differences off hand and recognize how to take care of something? They all look similar to a new person..

The tone and attitude so many of your members seem to have, is quite distasteful. Many people will turn away.
Enjoy your closed group of elitist bonsai experts, that is surely to die off...

Thank you for your very reluctant help. I would rather kill 100 bonsai trees than come back to this forum for inspiration or help.

Best wishes,

Of course! I bought countless books. I went to Bonsai exhibitions to see what real bonsai look like. I attended a bonsai course - not a very high level one, but it got me started. I kept trees on a balcony - knowing it would not be a success. Then, after many years, I moved, got a garden, and things really started.

I looked up countless pages with bonsai information, using Google. There is so much information... it can be confusing. It's important to read several pages about the same subject, to compare, to find the best information.

I looked up and compared trees, the color/texture of the bark, leaves, leave shape, color. I looked up the same trees in garden centers to train my eye.
No one here is being an elitist about bonsai. I am very sure that every single person here consider theirselves a beginner or maybe an advanced amateur. No one here will call himself a bonsai master.

So... don't shoot de messenger and do your homework.
