But as said, I do not grow satsuki anymore. (I do however have european azaleas in my collection)

Because I like azalea flowers. But I only have three I think. I grow a wide range of species, some for their flowers.

I had one, which never really was happy. Hardly any growth. Then one winter it froze to death. Looking at them, I find them fairly pricey here, and as I am not sure what went wrong, I do not want to get another. Then I realized there are species perfectly fit for my climate. So why go Japanese..

Exactly! In this world, practically monopolized by everything done, written or used in Japan, sometimes people don´t realize that for our current conditions everything that comes from there is not necessarily the best or the adequate thing to do.
