I recently posted that my tree had shed all leaves and appeared totally dead. I may have overwatered it.
In he last few weeks new shoots appear from the trunk but nothing on any branches on the top. Not sure what to do at this point. Do I cut the top branches off to make room for new growth or just leave it for now.
Any advice appreciated.

I would leave for a few weeks and let the new growth get stronger before doing anything.
