rescued bonsai was created by bonsaiscion

Hi all. Just cleaned out an apartment and found this juniper (?) bonsai. The old owner passed away in December so it's gone about a half year sitting in a window and not getting watered. I've never owned or cared for a bonsai before (or any plants really) and just wanted to make sure this one isn't too far gone before I take the plunge and try to salvage it. It's pretty brown, but there's still a bit of green. Any tips would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

WOW!
Very nice trunk!
It looks dead, unfortunately, but...
I would do ANYTHING to try to save it!
But...
I guess it's too late, even being optimistic.
6 months and NO WATER is certain death for bonsai.

A sure teat is to touch the foliage. If it is moist and flexible, you might be able to safe it. If it is hard and brittle it is gone.

Is still soft, focus on spraying it with water. Through spraying the soil may get a little moits. I would not put it in a lot of water, as the roots will need to regenerate. Only slowly let the soil get moist.

Thanks everyone for your tips! I put the bonsai outside (hot and humid) and have been moistening the leaves daily and watering just a small amount every other day. I also ran my hands through it a few times and cleared out the leaves that fell off without pulling (not much). Not sure what my next steps should be. Should I be cutting off branches that are more brown than green?
Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but I feel like it's looking slightly healthier and there's still some life left in it.

If you are sure they are dead, yes, go ahead and clean up the tree.
