Hello, new to the forum.. i decided 6 months ago to start growing a Bonsai, and now i have this Delonix Regia that is 6 months old. it's pretty much as tall as i would like it to get and i will be repotting it next week but how do i stop it from growing taller... also, out of the blue whilst i was in america it decided to grow a little twin somehow, i don't remember putting two seeds in the same pot but i guess it could have happened without me seeing and now i have a 5 week old Delonix too. I have had to make a makeshift self irrigating planter whilst i sort out another pot for it.. i only intended on having the one... i would love some advice on when i should start trying to shape and how to stop them from growing taller.

The easiest way to keep them smaller.

Do keep in mind, bonsai need trunks. And to get trunks, you need growth. So let it grow, and reduce later.

Great, i had already read something similar and it confused me because i am new, but i guess it makes sense. so much to learn... so is it best to cut as low as possible until you achieve the trunk size required?

I am growing some Delonix from seed also.
let them grow, cut down to the first branch with leaves, let it grow again, and so on.

So ihave 6 branches with leaves on at the minute, would you recommend cutting them all off at the stem?
