Roughly 6-7 weeks ago I transplanted a young spruce growing up against our house to decent sized planter, Didn't think it would make it but it did. I then did way to much bonsai research one day, got to excited and went out pruned and wired the poor tree. This was maybe 3 weeks ago, and again the tree still lives and even growing new little needles here and there. I live in Canada and the tree has prob been threw one winter outside before i came around...My question is can I or should I take it inside for this winter or dig a hole for the planter?

Always ask yourself where did this tree evolve? Once the seed sprouts the tree in the wild will never move. It and it's forebears grew up in Canada and expect a long freezing winter. That is along way of saying, outdoors. It also evolved with a pretty large heatsink (the Earth) and leaving it on a stand will stress it somewhat. Put it in the ground with something to block the wind, or put it in a completely unheated building. I know a guy in Rochester, NY, who moves is into a large garage with a heater to keep the temperature above 25. If he were across the lake he would keep it at -4.
