Bonsai recovery was created by Acejakk

Hello everyone,
My bonsai had lack of water for 1 week due to a water system failure. It recovered and now branches are growing from the root, while everything on the "main plant" died or dried out.
What should I do in this case? Images below.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

There are no images. As we do not know what species it is it is very difficult to comment. You will have to grow what is coming for the base as a new tree. If it is a grafted plant then it may be the stock that is growing so you will lose whatever variety is on top.

Recently there was someone on this forun who buys dead trees, you could try selling it to him.

Your serissa is not going to recover from this.

I have posted 2 links with the pictures. It's a Serissa.
So what you're saying is that whatever is growing on the bottom is another variety correct?
Will there ever be a point where I can replant and keep whatever is growing on the bottom?
Best regards

You did not include the pictures in your post. People do not like to follow links to other websites - and also this way the pictures may disappear in the future.

The green shoots look like weeds. Your serissa is dead.

You are right, I should have linked them directly and yes, in the future they might disappear.
I had a feeling those leafs were different from the Serissa's. Big mistake leaving a bonsai in someone else's hands.
Thanks for all the help!

All who have gone on vacation have stories. I set up a watering system with timer, watched it work for two weeks, went out of town, came home, and my neighbor told me he had noticed the water running and had turned the water off for me.

Every tree was dead.

A learning experience. Now I pay a young man who used to be a teenager to water them. In maybe a dozen trips I have lost one tree, but I never told him about bugs, so I get credit for that one.
