I have taken several cuttings and tried every method I know in hopes of starting new trees. I have simply cut and stuck the cutting in potting soil, I've added some rooting hormone, I've tried everything YouTube has shown me, but all of my cuttings die in about a month.

Trick is to not let them dry out. So shelter for lots of sun and dry wind and keep in moist surroundings.

I have made a very surprising discovery. I've just found out that a couple of my last effort on trying to get Eastern red cedar cuttings to take root have gotten needle growth. They are scale like leaves when full grown, but with research, I've found that they form needles when they are young. I believe that these cuttings have a chance, they were just starting to turn pale and I believe I saved them in time. Hopefully they will take root..

I'm for sure gonna keep trying to get more cuttings to take root, that way I don't have to worry too much about them dying
