Hi everyone I’m Andrea and I’m new here, this is my first question and it is about getting my first bonsai.
I’ve done some research of which tree I should grow based on the climate in my area but I want to be sure that I’m not mistakenly choosing the wrong kind of tree. So I live in northern Italy, we get cold winters (-10ºC peaks) and crazy hot summers (35-38ºC peaks) and I was planning on having an outdoor bonsai. So initially I was thinking about some kind of pinus (sylvestris, mugo..) or a juniper but I’m not sure if they can withstand such hot temperatures in summer.
Thanks in advance to whoever replies to this, Andrea
Yes, all sorts of pines will probably feel good in northern Italy.
Perhaps a Japanese White Pine will struggle a little, but the other species suitable for bonsai can be grown even if the temperature in the summer goes up to 40 degrees, as it happens here in Brazil.
Just protect them from the midday sun.
