Hello. I recently found 2 large acorns, one of which has already sprouted into a tiny sapling and the other just barely cracking open. Bonsai specimens in the making! At first I IDd them as Red Oaks, now I'm not too sure. This is coming from early spring in southern Maryland, with white and red oaks all around my area.

Impossible to tell based on these pictures. Based on your info, probably a white or a red oak.
