Our outdoor bonsai had suddenly gone very crispy and looks like it’s on its last legs. It had been doing well until recently. We don’t know what’s happened though we did keep it in the house for a few months over the very cold weather. Watering wise, we tried hard to follow the instructions but somehow, something has gone wrong. It’s in the sun now outside but doesn’t look very happy. Wondering what’s best to do.....help please. We are new to bonsai.

Yeah, that's on its way out.
What happened is that you stressed it too much. The wiring is pretty bad. You moved it indoors.

hello, thanks for your reply. Is there anything I can do to try to save it? it was a gift from a friend. The wiring was done like that by the seller - do you think it's been overdone and that's what has stressed the plant? Even though the plant had a sticker on it saying 'outdoor bonsai' It had been kept indoors all winter and had been doing well, we thought....just one watering and it suddenly dried up like this and got progressively worse. I was also wondering what type it is, if you can tell from the shrivelled up leaves.... thanks for your help.

Plants belong outdoors. Often we see people here that did not know. Here you seem to even had the advice to keep it outdoors. Even though 'it does well' it has been slowly dying since you put it inside. You only noticed it in the last few days.
