i don't see a real problem, overall the ( young) tree looks fine.
What i do not understand is the " generations" you mentioned: this plant is max 5 years old....

This is the internet. The whole world uses it. Why would such an indication be needed?

Yellowing/browning, older needles at the base are normally not a problem. Yellowing tips can be.
So far the plant doesn't look bad, but if it is an infection, it may spread. Hard to tell what the future will bring.

Take sharp cutters and sterilize them. Cut off the yellowing part, beyond the affected area - so you cut into the healthy part.
Sterlize again before cutting of the next part.

If more tips turn yellow, you may try a fungicide. I have two (a broad-spectrum one and a copper based one... for my juniper that's now taking 3 years to die... so far, it hasn't helped. I'm going to treat it rigorously now, use both fungicides regularly - it's a last resort. My tree looks far worse than yours though, practically every tip is affected. New buds grow, and get affected too...).

Here an example of fungi on a common juni on the first page of the thread (wasn’t affected the whole plant).

Yours looks nothing like :)

(I think the family occupy with trees since generations? Someone can root a cutting of a 3yo juniper branch while 50 years on the gardening scene.)

lucR: I apologize for the confusion. What I meant to write is that this particular family has been growing bonsai trees as both a hobby and now business for generations (on the husband's side), not that my trees themselves have been growing for many generations. In my original post, I wrote that one of my bonsai trees is 12 years old (the one pictured) and the other is 3 years old (not pictured). I appreciate your comments and for allowing me to correct this info.

Thank you to everyone else for your suggestions and comments. It is greatly appreciated!

It still does surprise me that a family that has been growing bonsai for generations sells plants that really cannot be called bonsai.

Your plant does not have any bonsai characteristics (other than being a plant in a pot) and it does not show a trace of bonsai design.

Guess the thought bonsai is 'a plant in a pot' is so wide-spread that even families that have grown them for generations believe that.

In most countries a couple hours drive puts you in a different country. Turning the TV dial a couple of clicks gets a different language. I drive five hours and am still in Alabama. Some people here just aren't used to much different from day to day.

A spot of humor: we got off the cruise ship and it was hot as could be. One of the crew said it was 35. Somebody beside me, standing in the sun, asked if 35 was hot.
