Hi All,

I’m wondering if it’s normal for a Trident Maple’s leaves to be turning pink around this time of year. We’re in the middle of July now but I thought the leaves are supposed to change colours in October.

I noticed the pink colour is just developing on some of the leaves and there’s a little bit of new growth that’s pink.

Could this be caused by over / under watering? Or is this a symptom of something else?

I’ll take a picture when I get home tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

Dont worry. It's completly normal.

Maples change colors throughout summer and not just in spring and autumn. That's why it's my favorite tree. Because the colors are constantly changing.

I hope it’s normal. I’ve attached pictures showing the slightly pink leaves for reference.

I’m watering the tree once a day since it’s around 25 to 30 degrees celsius during the day. It’s also in direct sunlight until the afternoon where it’s shaded by a large tree.

The soil is usually still slightly moist when I water it. I was thinking to let it dry out a bit more; maybe watering once every two days.

the color is sunprotection. Nothing to worry about (But a sign it is hot and sunny where it sits)

Thanks for the responses everyone. It really puts my mind at ease =]

While watering the Maple last night, I noticed a secondary branch was broken and hanging. I ended up cutting it off with cutters.

I’m suspecting a squirrel jumped on the tree which caused the damage. I was trying to root some mulberry tree cuttings in a small pot under the table used for the Maple that were eaten up. I found the branches chewed through and one even completely out of the pot on the deck.
