I have been on holiday in Croatia and collected a tree from the wild with my Farther as side digger - now i am curious as to what exactly i have collected, i know for certain that it is a needle tree - i have attached pictures of the tree and hope someone could help out - Georg from Copenhagen over and out :P

Can you take a closer picture of the needles? My guess now would be Taxus.

I cannot see how many rows of needles have on the branches (..I proved to be blind several times) . If it’s more than two (Yew), according to your location this may could be a Juniperus communis.

Anything it is, looks nice. I hope will survive the bare rooting+wrong collection time.

Here we go - i really hope this does it, i am myself very excited too see if it will survive, my plan is to plant it in a very large container with lots of drilled holes and use pure Sphagum Moss.

You probably killed a juniperus communis, a protected species across europe because of steady decline in the wild.

Maybe i was too naive - about the steady decline i would like to tell you i came across a dozen of these, in various sizes, this one i choose because he was on the brink of death and looked to be suffering.. i thought that maybe i could bring him back too life.

The tree needs lots of water for the rest of the summer. Sphagnum moss sounds like a good plan.

Keep us updated. Good luck.

Ripped a tree out of the ground, without preparation, bare rooting it, doing it in the wrong season, killing it, denying they are in decline because you saw a dozen... I guess you expected enthusiastic response for you getting a yamadori, but I think you're not making friends here.
