Need help was created by AdaminMO

I am new to Bonsai and need help with a ficus I just got a month or two ago. I know I have made a few mistakes already but I am looking for help to save this tree. I purchased a ficus retusa online and it can in a normal deep pot. I root pruned and replanted in a bonsai pot with tropical bonsai soil and slightly trimmed up branches. I have since had no growth and some leaves have turned yellow. I removed the yellow leaves and there are some light green ones still on. The yellowing has seemed to stabilize however I have no growth in the plant after a month or so. I have another Ficus which has lots of growth so I know it isn’t the conditions. Any help would be appreciated.

Also the leaves are a little more yellow than you can see in the picture but not bad at all. Just hope for some reason it’s growing out it’s roots or something and hopefully will start growing more in spring, but I am not expert

How long should it take to start growing again? I just worry it’s been over a month

Do you have a picture of the work you have done to the roots.

You might have done to mutch at the roots, so the ficus first makes new roots, before putting out new leafs.

Where are you located?
Does it get enough light?

Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of the root pruning. I’m in Missouri. And yes it gets plenty of light. South facing window and quality supplemented light source. I’m hoping you’re right and it’s growing a bunch of new roots under soil.

Just as an fyi.. Our ficus can stall growing for months on end once they feel stressed. Only after winter starts to recede do they come back to the growing stage.
