Dear community,

I love growing plants from seeds and purchased some seeds for a Delonix Decaryi last summer. Now I have two very enthusiastic tree seedlings (see attachments) and I was wondering if you as experts see potential to turn (one of) these into a Bonsai.

The small one is 20cm high, the large one is growing rapidly and is now 60cm high (40 cm new growth just from this spring and summer). Too high already, probably. I've been trying to figure out what to do (in terms of pruning) but all the advise out there is very overwhelming and I hoped one of you could point me into the right direction on what to do next with these tiny trees. I've always wanted to start a Bonsai, and I think this could be the starting point, I just don't know if I am right.

TL;DR My question is: is this Bonsai material and if so: what should I do/read next to know how to proceed from here?

The big one is further in the process of getting to be a tree. That is your best material for future bonsai.

You can wire the trunk to give it some movement. Other than that the trees just need to grow for a coupple of years.
