Olive Bonsai from a Cutting. I have questions. was created by BonsaiBabies

I am adding a picture of my bonsai we are both new. Its an olive bonsai from a cutting. First I am starting to wonder if it's too dry. I read something about putting a bowl of water by it or putting it on a tray of rocks with water in the winter, but maybe I should start now.

Also it came with some little green fertilizer balls I don't know how to use. It came with no instructions. I have had it for a couple weeks and its still got most of its leaves and some new growth, so I think things are going semi-okay, but a few have fallen off and the tips are looking dry and there's some spots?

This Olive plant is far from being bonsai. Do not stand it in a tray of water. That will kill it quicker than anything! Forget the fertiliser. It needs to be outside in a sheltered spot and unless it gets cold (-5C) then does not need protection, just keep it dry during the winter water only occasionally

did you get a cut of branch that you are trying to root? Or was this a rooted plant when you got it?

I had got it hoping to keep it as a house plant. I do have a small covered porch area, it's east-facing and gets pretty direct light in the morning. Would that be a good spot to put it until Fall?

I could be wrong but from the pic, looks like you've got a little scale infestation. Had the same on my olives, picked them off with a needle and squished them. White oil will work too. Good luck
