Hi everyone,
My bonsai is looking a little sad and just wondered if someone might be able to give me some advice? Is this normal for this season or do you think there's something wrong?
Really appreciate any advice!
Thanks,
Issy

What are the temperatures like for you?
Many trees drop their leaves in fall. Bonsai just do what their full-sized sisters do.

Chinese elms are semi decidious. They shed when it is extremelly cold. If you are not in very cold climate, I would not say it is not normal. Maybe too much water?

I live in London and it's not that cold yet. Do you think it would be better off inside so I can control the water?

No, do not put it inside. That is the most certain way to kill a chinese elm. Just reduce watering. It will not grow new leafs until spring.

It might depend on the species of bonsai and the temperature it can withstand or it might have to do with the amount you are watering the plant, the sunlight it gets, the nutrients in the soil mix and if the roots have clumped up too much inside the pot causing almost like a mat of roots. it could be any of these factors. sorry I am unable to help more but hope this helps enough and good luck!!

I think it's just starting to shed because of temperature, but yes, as tropfrog said, just be carefull with watering, they'll cosumpt less water from now on...
