When is the best time of year to air layer a crab apple please? It's a shohin tree with a branch that's not needed (about 1cm in diameter) and rather than bin it, I'd thought I'd air layer it. I'm in the home counties and a relative air-layering novice. Thanks.

Air layering is best done in early spring, so late March early April.
