Hello, my ficus which I have had for two years has leaves turning yellow and falling off. I repotted it in April and it did fine. I live in Montreal Canada. The ficus has full sun in the afternoon and remains inside with closed windows.

Hello Kevin
A lot of people watered their Ficuses and other indoorplants in the wintertime too much.
If the growth has stopped, which is normal for this time .. i reduce watering my Ficuses approx. 50% if they placed at normal roomtemperature or 70% if they placed cool (9-12 C). If you placed your Ficus directly over an heater, less watering is maybe not possible !?
Of course, the leave drop could also be a different problem !?

This is what Peter Chan say about ficus loosing leafs in winter:

My suggestion is to relax, inspect for pests, reduce watering and wait for spring before evaluating the health of the tree

Hello Kevin
Your Ficus ist located at a nice bright window over an heater, so it`s not recommended or you have to be careful with less watering !?
Another importand thing ist the light, in my Area and also in your Area the daylight duration is now around 9 hrs and it`s getting less the next 4 weeks.

So i repead what i have written to an asking member one week ago (same question) :
"At the wintertime the light is most important for your Ficus, you can keep it in the Room at 21 C but you need a very bright spot at a south, west or east-faced Window, sometimes its not enough and you need an extra growlight ?!
You can also located at a cooler spot , down to 10 C is possible and an growlight is not necessary.
I strored some Ficuses at 9-12 C at the window without an noticeable leaves fall, i strored some also around 20 C , some like it and some dont, without growlight some start with leaves fall around Christmas.
Dont forget .. less leaves means less watrering."
