Does anyone use these for dawn redwood tree seedlings good drainage. [ 

Dawn redwoods is a bog tree that loves wet conditions. Makes no sense to me increasing drainage. It will just make you water more often without any real benefit for the tree.

For air pruning of roots, pond baskets makes sense on any tree.

I agree, I would not use them for Redwoods,
