What am I doing wrong? was created by Drazzminius

I purchased this Ginseng Ficus for my wife earlier this year and up until the past few weeks it had seemed to be doing well. It started with a few leaves yellowing and getting some brown spots, but the other day most of the leaves fell off.  I Googled it a couple of weeks ago and it said maybe we were overwatering it, but cutting back on the water didn’t help (as I said, most of the leaves have fallen).

we keep it indoors at temps from 69-73. Is it still susceptible to the Fall?  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked to see if it is too wet? Google is not your fingers, move the moss and see if it is dry or wet. How have you been watering? Watering is done when the plant needs it not to a schedule, check the soil every day and then water as needed. One or two days will not make any difference to the plant to react, it may take several weeks. Have you checked to see if there any insects on the leaves? Under the leaves as well as on the trunk. There are many reasons for a plant to drop some leaves, including age of leaves.

Hello and thank you for the reply. There are no insects on the tree or under the leaves, first thing my wife checked!

I think my wife initially was over watering it because the moss started to turn a darker color And was no longer the lush screen it was when the tree arrived. We have stopped watering it for now to let it dry up a little bit.

I guess I’m wondering if it may be able to recover, even though it has lost many of the leaves?

Yes but did you check under the moss? the moss could chalnge colour for any number of reasons. Stopping watering is not the best action when you do not know if is wet. Get a chopstick or similar and push into the soil if it comes out with soil on it then it may be wet, but if it comes out dry then it needs water.
