Do you think i should take the moss off the base of the trunk, also do you think it would make a great bonsai how would you do it please any advice welcome.

Yes you must remove the moss from the trunk. In time it may be a nice bonsai but many years from now. I would depending on the way it drains re pot in the spring into a better soil mix, fertiliser all summer. You need to decide how big you want it to be and prune the side branches to suit, allowing the main leader to grown on. This will help to thicken the trunk. You could wire the branches as well.
