Hi Bonsai Empire,

I am Very New (as in have never made much of Gardening) as i have had just began to make the Garden around my house, I have always been inspired with the Art of Bonsai. I currently live in Thailand, Pattaya City. As the Country is in a Tropical Climate i have an All year Summer with some Cold days as they call it (19 Celsius).

After i have had done some looking around in the Garden i Found this Tree (Bush) in the Garden (attached).
Estimated time here is around 12+ Years and Due to the Small leaves and Branches it could do a very good bigger size Bonsai.
I will be Digging this up on the Weekend to Pot it (also to see the Roots) i hope to get some advise on the Process and may to get an ID on this Due that i Really have no Knowledge in Tree Species.

I thanks all for the Site, as i have Read all the Pages already and have had a better Understanding what to look out for.

It's a Polyscais- commonly called ming araila.

@Stefan; I'd suggest digging the tree out without cutting into too much roots. First place it with the original soil in a big pot and let it recover for a year. From there on, you can gradually work towards pruning the roots to make them more compact.

@Bonsaibp - Thank you for the Name, this now helps me a lot what i have to look for when I am Potting it This weekend, also it makes me have some Ideas on what to do after looking up some in google.

@Oscar - Thank you for the Suggestion, i already had thoughts of digging a wide Diameter, and then go a bit deeper.
also after searching the net, I found out that the have a Complex Rooting which is also at the same time not strong (i will be extra Careful).

I will post more Pictures later on the Weekend, after i bought all the material to Pot it.

I had A Flash thought that is bugging me now. Due that i am Going to Take the Tree out of the Ground and then into a Pot (a Rather big pot for good Growth it should be I think) can i Trunk chop it right away? or better to wait a wile?

Personally I would reverse the order: Trunk chop now. While it has good root connection. When after a few weeks the first growth is visible, the plant has sealed the wound, and you can consider moving.

However, if this is an established plant, you might need to first encourage it to grow feeder roots closer to the stem. Otherwise you risk loosing the tree. I do not know the plant you want to move, so I am not sur ehow much mis-treatmet it will survive..

Everything I have read about this tree says to be very careful of the roots.they are delicate....but you already know that. haha
Whether you dig it up now or chop the trunk is up to you, but don't do both.That would most likely be too stressful on the tree.
Wiring isn't suggested for these trees because their branches are soft and fleshy. Clip and grow, and pinching leaves is what should be done.
One more interesting tid-bit...These trees defoliate themselves at random times throughout the year. People say it freaks them out
because they think they killed the tree.
