hello there im from perth western australia. i have a malalooka in a training pot and some pines and i wanted to know about making a bonsai out of this plant...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuytsia_floribunda

there r heaps of these around my grandads farm and the flowers r really bright.
theres a peat swamp nearby which i can use for the air layering but there is no bonsai shop for atleast 100km, the nearest one doesnt have any rooting hormone in stock.
being a parasite type plant, what r my chances?

I give you VERY little chance. As it uses the roots of neighbouring plants to get the nutrients, it would perform poorly, or even die, on own roots.

Rooting hormones you can get at any gardening store. It is not sopmething specific for bonsai.

if this is a parasitic plant this is going to be a very dificult endevor.IMO if you have to have one i would dig one up with its host plant and style them both as a penjing style planting. if theyre plentiful, just do some expieramenting, worst that can happen is you waste a bunch of time.you may end up with something very unique. if someone told the chinese 2000 years ago that trees couldnt be grown in pots and they just said O.K. than this forum wouldnt be here ;)
