I got my first bonsai tree for Christmas this year and we're not sure what type it is. I've been watering when needed (following instructions I've found online) but I want to identify it so I know the proper way to take care of it!

Also any beginner advice would be awesome. If it helps at all, I live in Washington state so the weather is pretty iffy sometimes.

this is a common juniper (juniperus communis) it is an outdoor tree and must be kept outdoors,if not i give it a month before it turns brown and dies.it will need to be slowly transitioned to the outdoor environment (temperature). once outside it is to be kept out of the wind and preferably the pot burried in snow once it is acclimated if it gets that cold .
